July 2018

After we returned from our family reunions we continued to have a pleasant July.  Immediately after we returned Eve was off to church girls' camp.  She had a great time!  We have such great leaders!

Meanwhile we had a youth group from our Alton, IL ward come to stay with us on their way to and from a church history trip.  We were able to have them bring Courtney Owen for the week in between.  We really enjoyed having her!

Here are some blackberries we picked from our yard.

On my birthday I took the kids to the mall and they used their own money to get a fish pedicure.  Apparently the fish rub up against the feet when they feel electrical impulses in the feet to exfoliate the dead skin.

On the 28th we had the chance to hit the lake.  We had a great time!  Eve was able to bring her friend Abigail.  It was a beautiful day!

On the 29th we got together with the Kleins and Nassim so thoughtfully brought over a belated birthday cake for me.  She is such a thoughtful and generous friend!  I am so blessed to have her in my life!

I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life!  I feel so happy and blessed!

Murray Visit and Reunion

After our Smith extended family reunion we headed to Colorado.  We arrived about 5-6 days before the official John Murray reunion started.  We wanted to spend as much time with the Murrays as possible!  Here are many of our highlights:

On June 24th we were able to get together for a family dinner at Jen and Scott's house.  These are always so great for reconnecting and enjoying our time together.  We loved meeting sweet little Augustine!  He is a little angel!  His face, skin, smiles, and cheery temperament were pure joy!

I enjoyed so much being with all my family members again!

We especially loved hearing Joe sing in preparation for his musical theater camp.  He is very talented!

Little Eleanor is growing up and will soon be a big sister!  Yay!  Here she is with her dad (Joseph) and grandpa (Scott).

This is just a fun picture we took to see how much we looked alike.

On the 26th Annie and I took the kids to the Museum of Nature and Science.  This is always a great activity for everyone.

Here the kids are using their minds to push the ball toward their opponent.

On the 27th we were able to go on a walk and go swimming with Catherine at her community pool.  It was a perfect day for it!  We had a great time, but were sad when Cat had to leave for Augustine's nap.  That is life with a baby of course.  Catherine is a diligent mother!  Catherine was also great about sharing ideas with me about teaching piano.

On June 28th we gathered for a family dinner.  We were happy that Adam, Nicolle, Brec, and Ivan could join us!  It was so fun to meet little Brec.  He is just as sweet and cute as can be!  We loved to see his smile, and hear his cute sounds!

As always, a cookout at my parents' house is always fun and lively!

Friday the 29th we kicked off the reunion with professional family photos.  This was very thoroughly planned photo shoot that I think went quite well.  I am grateful for all the effort that was put in by my dad and others to make it all work out.  Here are some photos I took before and after for kicks.

Here are the formal and final shots that we got from the photographer, Bart Levy.

Here are some photos we took as a family back at Dad's house.

On the evening of the 29th we headed to Canon City for rafting and the train the following day.  But first we wanted to celebrate Rosanna's birthday.

We had a great time together in Canon City!  The rafting was beautiful and fun!  I wish I could have taken photos, but was too worried about water damage to my phone.  The train was great for the those that were looking for a relaxing way to enjoy the beauty.

After rafting and the train we had lunch and then those that wanted to head back to Denver did so, and then a few of us stayed to go to the Royal Gorge.  We didn't know when we might get another chance to visit.  Although not everything was available to us we enjoyed being together.  Here are some pics.

In the evening we met at Jennifer's house for dinner.  She is always so great to open her home to us all!

On Monday, July 2nd we were able to secure tickets for the Denver Mint while others decided to take more photos at the temple.  Following the mint we were able to meet up at a park in near those that live further south of Denver.

I love how these two are such good friends!

In the evening we had a dinner at Annie's house.  Here are some fun pics.

Some of the family headed back to Utah a bit early, and we were sad to see them all go.

We continued to enjoy the rest of the family for the rest of the week.

On Wednesday, the Fourth of July we went swimming with Cat again and then in the evening we gathered at Jen's for dinner before fireworks.

Later in the week we were able to take the kids to Pirates Cove.  The sunshine is always nice!

We had a great time in Colorado and were so grateful to be able to gather with our family!  We feel blessed to have time to develop our relationships.  We also enjoyed very much the sunshine and warm weather!  We headed back to Ohio on July 7th.
