Dance Recital Photos Spring 2021

In an effort to keep my June post a reasonable length I have decided to document these dance photos in a post of their own.  These were taken by John Ewing, our studio owner's son.  I love how they have captured the beauty of dance!  Overall, Eve had more costumes and poses since she was in the most advanced classes and she is a senior, but I was so happy to get some cute sister and buddy shots.

I  love my girls and I love dance!

June 2021

We had a wonderful month in June!  I will write about the main events before our vacation and cover the family vacation in my next post.

We kicked off the month by celebrating Sterling's Birthday.  Sterling had friends over for swimming and games.  Sterling has a great sense of humor and has developed the ability to get along with just about everyone.  He is always up for a fun time.  He is growing up so fast!

During the second week of June Eve, Sheri and I went to Young Women's Camp at Camp Liahona.  This year I was much more involved with camp since I needed to arrange rides, make sure parents and YW knew what to bring, and I was a first year leader.  Camp Liahona was beautiful, but we had some VERY cold days.   One day it even snowed on us.  We bundled up as best we could and enjoyed all the expanded friendships within the stake.  Here are some of the younger girls from our ward that arrived on Tuesday. (Youth and adult leaders came Monday.) This was Sheri's first in person year.

These are some of my cute first year girls with my co-leader, Ranae Wooley.  Ranae is thoughtful, easy to work with, and fun to talk to.  I'm grateful we could work together!

Here we are before one of our meals.  The cooks from our stake took good care of us in the food area.

Our camp was surrounded by burned trees, a reminder of the miracle that occurred a few years back when the camp was preserved from wild fires with no damage except to one small building.

We had activities planned each day including ziplining,

. . . hiking,

. . . team building activities,

. . . and fun/spiritual learning.  Also, our bishop (Matthew Day) came to share and teach on our last day at camp.

The YCLs (youth camp leaders) had lots of fun and crazy energy which helped generate enthusiasm in the girls new to camp.

I was glad to spend time and make memories with my girlies even if I wasn't with them the whole time.  (Sheri was a 2nd year and Eve was a YCL)

I also loved being with my sweet friends and making new friends in the stake.  Here I am with Michelle and Krissy who helped in the kitchen and with capers (camp chores).  I have grown so close to these two incredible women this past year as we have walked together each week and served the youth together.

The day we got back from camp the girls had  dress rehearsals for their upcoming recital, Sleeping Beauty.

The recital was held the next week outside at the nearby park.  It was definitely not ideal (sun, shadows, and uneven floors) but we were grateful to have a place to perform since everything has been so shut down with the Covid pandemic and funds were limited.
The girls did a beautiful job!

Sheri and Ava have grown to be quite close friends.  It is so fun that they get to dance together also.

Eve had quite a few numbers since she is in the most advanced group.

Here is Eve in her Bluebird costume.  She did a beautiful job!

I love my beautiful girls!

The following week we were able to spend a fun evening with the Ashbys.  Ronnie has great energy and he and Christian had a great time together.

Also in June Matt had a work conference in Monterey and I was able to join him for a quick trip.  It was great to have some time together.

The following week we headed out on our family summer vacation, minus Matt and Sterling who had Young Men's camp that week.  We decided to fly him to meet us after camp.

For Young Men's camp they hiked, swam, cliff jumped, played games, and had daily devotionals.  They also rented horses one day and were able to ride for many hours into some beautiful areas.  I feel very grateful for our Bishopric and YM leaders who are so dedicated to helping our young men grow and have meaningful experiences.

Well, that about sums up our June until we left for our family reunions.  For our vacation we hit Utah to visit Ivan, Morrison, Colorado for the Sabey runion at "The Barn", Denver for a week with the Murrays, and then South Dakota for the Smith Reunion. Summer is the best!
