March 2023

March truly felt like the end of winter and the start of spring.  It was still cold, but hope of new beautiful things started to emerge.  I felt that this was true in more than one way.

Here are our highlights of March.

Sheri has really started to develop some great friendships with Marianne and Presley.  They go to movies, hang out on weekends, invite each other over, and talk about all the interesting things in life.

Eve continues to make wonderful memories with her cousins/roommates!  Here they went to a spring formal.  Winter has been long for Eve but she has persevered and is especially thankful for her job, her TA's, and her fun late night conversations with her best friends/roommates!

Christian is falling into a rhythm with school and friends.  The kitties are getting used to everything as well and are more snuggly and settled.

Matt put in a tetherball pole for Christian and Christian loves to play!

Sterling and Sheri were able to compete with their one act play.  They both did a great job and we were so proud of them!  Sterling was the only character who had to learn all his lines in sign language as well as verbally.  He was able to play the co-lead with his girlfriend, Harleigh.  The kids have learned a lot and made a lot of great memories during rehearsals.  I have loved watching them engage in after school activities along with track which has also started.
Here they are with the Vests.  Kate Vest played the deaf grandma and Kolby played the deaf son.

This is the t-shirt from the play.

The biggest highlight for March was our spring break. Saturday, March 11th - Sunday, March 19th.  We drove first to Colorado, Utah, and finally Idaho to see Joseph in Hunchback of Notre Dame.
It was so good to see Eve in Provo!

We got all the cousins together to play games!

We stayed in Regan Fackrell's cabin in Vivian Park.

It was fun to have Jonathan along! The boys had a great time in the snow!

Here is their snow cave.

We went to the Bean Science Museum...

...and the Museum of Art.

Meanwhile Matt and Sterling went skiing in Sundance.

We had a great time on campus and enjoyed eating at the Canon Center a few times.

and enjoyed the bookstore.

We ran into Emily Whitney and other friends from different places we have lived.

When we got to Rexburg we stayed at a large home Jen rented.  It was so fun to all be in one place and so nice of Jennifer to arrange meal assignments, room assignments, and tickets to the musical!

We were able to go sledding.  It was super windy and there was water under the snow at the bottom of the hill -(a few boots got wet) but it was still fun!

We loved having Wendy with us also.  I was impressed with her flexibility and willingness to participate in all the activities. :)

Of course we adored our time with Hannah and Catherine's kids.

We enjoyed the hot springs in the snow.

Sterling and I went to the Wednesday show of Hunchback and the rest of my immediate family went on Friday.  I am so glad I could go twice.  It was outstanding and Joe did such a fabulous job!

Thursday we celebrated Hannah and Joseph Cammack's baby gender reveal. We are excited to welcome another girl into the family!

In the afternoon the family went to the arcade and I drove to Provo to pick up Eve.  We drove back up to Rexburg Friday morning while the rest of the family went to lunch with Joe for his birthday.  What a funny guy!

Friday night was amazing again!  Such a powerful message, with powerful music, and incredibly talented performers!

Of course, afterward we all wanted to talk about the show and all the elements. :)  We were sad when Joe had to leave!  He is so fun to listen to!

The next morning we drove Eve back to Provo and got some Dole Whip.  She only has about a month left of the semester!  We then drove to Colorado.

The following day we drove home to Texas.  How nice that it is a bit warmer here!  We are also enjoying more signs of spring than further north!

Here is Christian swinging with his friends on the pergola Matt and Sterling finished.

And here are Sheri and her friends also enjoying the swings.

We celebrated Matt's birthday!  We are sure blessed to have such a hard working, devoted Dad!
Some things he got for his birthday were bees and a new hive!  I also got us some new bedding.

He recently bought a big kite and loves to fly it on Sundays.  We certainly have enough wind to use it!

Matt and I agreed to be Christian's soccer coaches.  Actually it was a family effort with Sheri and Sterling helping a ton at practice!

Here are a few more pictures of Eve in Provo.

Here she is collecting river data for a lab class.

Back in Amarillo spring is as windy as ever!

As always, I stay busy with taking care of the family and the home, serving in my callings, substitute teaching in the schools, teaching English, and running to soccer games and track meets.
I sure feel grateful for all that we are blessed with and especially for Matt and all that he does for us!  Also, I'm so happy that Spring is here!
