June 2022

June was an abundant month!  Here is what we have been up to.

We got home from our Lake Powell Reunion on June 3rd and regrouped June 4th.  The girls also had dance rehearsals.  Sheri and I finished packing her for YW camp, which was Monday, June 6-11th -Saturday).  She was able to go on the 4th year overnight hike, zip line, rock climb, make crafts, and all the other fun activities!  On Wednesday morning she fainted (probably dehydration) at flag ceremony and so had to miss horse back riding that day. It was a real bummer, but she was able to go to Pinecrest with Ava, and the youth camp leaders for the day.  Maybe she will come back next year to visit.  They promised she could ride horses if so.  I only came up for the last night since I felt that I needed to be home with the other kids and take care of business at home.  It was beautiful in the mountains and the girls are so blessed to have such wonderful leaders that plan such a great camp experience!

June 11th was Christian's final soccer game for the season. He enjoyed playing offense and goalie.  I love to see his determination and his leadership on the field!

June 18th was the girls' dance recital of Alice in Wonderland.  Eve was the White Queen and Sheri was the White Duchess.  It was magical to see them dancing on stage together!  I loved the show, the dancing, the costumes, the music, and most of all seeing my two beautiful girls light up the stage!  We will be sad to close this chapter of dancing with Steps Dance Arts Center,  They have been very good to us during our time here!

The girls being silly.

After the show, the girls like to leave kiss marks on each other.  :)

It's been so fun to dance with friends - Allison, Aubrey, Ava, and friends that the girls have made in class.

I will include more dance recital photos in a separate post.

June 22nd was Young Mens' Camp for Sterling.  The leaders put a lot of planning into this experience!

The YM and their leaders biked around Lake Tahoe which meant many miles each day.  I am happy that Sterling was able to participate in this challenge.  He finished strong!

Apparently there were bears, and they liked mac n cheese. Ha!

I love the bond of friendship these boys have!  They have a lot of fun together!

On June 27th we went to Great America to celebrate Sheri's birthday (belated).  We were glad that Michelle, Charlotte, Salma, and Nyeli could join us!  The kids enjoyed the rides and it was a perfect temperature.

On June 29th we went crabbing with the Ashbys in San Francisco.  It was a lovely time!  I am grateful that God gave us a little extra sunshine after we first arrived so that I wasn't cold the whole time.  I sure feel blessed!  I am also glad that we could spend one last time making fun memories with the Ashbys!

On June 30th I took the girls to a Shawn Mendes Concert in Sacramento.  I bought the girls tickets as birthday presents and we have been looking forward to this for months!  It was a fun show and we really enjoyed his singing.  Of course it doesn't bother the girls that he is handsome.  :)

As far as the rest of the month...
We closed on our TX home and Matt has started to move in from the place he's been staying in since January.

This is the beginning of a pond that we hope to create on our 4 acre land just a short walk from our home.

Our dear old red Kia minivan has held out to 200K miles.  She may be hail damaged, and lack A/C, but she has continued to be useful, especially as we transport and haul things.

Back in California our yard is bursting with beauty!  We were able to close on our home a week after our TX home.  The buyer negotiated to let us stay here (rent free) until we are ready to move at the end of July!  We are so grateful that we don't have to get an apartment and that we can tie up loose ends.  This home sale experience has felt like a tender mercy as far as the timing, pricing, and logistics go.

We are making as many happy memories with friends as we can in our last months here!  We have truly been blessed with an awesome ward, friends, neighbors, and teachers!

Here I am at the Fresno temple and at lunch afterwards with my sweet friends.

Here is Christian at Activity Days.  Again, he has wonderful leaders!

We loved having Matt home for the recital weekend  We miss not having him with us when he is in TX.

On days when we don't have much going on this is often where you will see us.  We like to invite friends, but when no one is available we are truly grateful to have each other.  I love to see my kids being good friends!

Happy Summer!
