July 2015

July was packed full of fun! The month started with the kids' greatest wish coming true. Kittens. Now, as many of you know, Matthew and I do not want inside pets. I certainly don't need any extra responsibilities pertaining to pets. However, when Matt discovered a wild pregnant mama cat at his work, it started the wheels turning. We looked into having a shelter pick them up, but ultimately decided that perhaps they could be useful outside cats for keeping little critters away. This was the point that perhaps swayed us, though I really just think it was an answer to all of Eve's prayers. She wanted a cat more than anything else. She researched it, thought about it, wrote a whole power point presentation about it, and kept on asking for it. We were pretty resolute, and our answer was no. All I can say is that the Lord must have softened our hearts, because somehow her prayers were answered.

These are pictures from Matt's work when they were still with their mama, their first day home (for the first 4), and all the kittens together in our tree house.

The little orange kitten named "Tiger" must have been a wanderer, because he made it across our very busy street and found a new home in a nearby neighborhood. I let the new owner keep him since we clearly had our fill. He was very beautiful and we do miss the color he added to the lot.

The other kittens are "Teddy", "Callie", "Rascal", "Katie", and "James". The kids were sure to give them lots of love and handling which has made the kittens very tame and gentle. We also got their shots and had them fixed in August. These cats have brought the kids so much happiness! They have sort of made up for the fact that we don't live in a traditional neighborhood with lot of friends next door.

Now, lest ye think that we are all set in the pet department . . .Matt wanted to add a few more rabbits to the mix. Some have gotten lost or passed on, but here are a few more that we added in July. More to come later.

The forth of July was fun for us. We were lucky to spend it with our great new friends, the Whitneys.

We started with Fourth of July pancakes for breakfast.

Then went to the Dublin parade.

In the afternoon we headed out to go boating and play frisbee on the beach.

We spent the rest of the month swimming at the gym and in full swing of dance classes, trying to pack in as many as possible before our upcoming vacation which started the 17th. More on that in the next post.
