Family Reunion 2022 - Lake Powell

Saturday, May 28th - We packed our stuff in the van and drove Matt to airport in Fresno on our way to Lake Powell.  Then he flew to Texas where he picked up his boat and then drove directly to Lake Powell.  We then drove to Saint George and got groceries for the Murray reunion.  It was a long day and I am so grateful we could stay in Ivan's lovely townhome!

Sunday, May 29th - We went to church at a local ward and then drove to Ticaboo lodge near Lake Powell to meet everyone.  Sterling got lots of practice hours driving!

This was our first time meeting little Constantine.  What a cutie!

We rented a houseboat for Monday-Thursday, and Matt hauled his boat from Texas of course, while I brought our jet ski.  It was good to see everyone.  It was definitely an adventure! Matt and I are the only one to have ever stayed on a houseboat before.  It is a little like camping but with more comforts and perks!  Everyone was flexible and understanding as we navigated new situations and everyone that helped with meals did a great job!  I think everyone had a good time.

(The photos are not perfectly in chronological order but hopefully give the gist of the trip.)

Everyone was so excited to be off on our new adventure!

This is one of the places where we docked.

It was great to have Ivan, Aaron, and Dad to help drive the house boat when Matt was driving his boat!

Monday evening we had a little Family Home Evening.  We talked about Memorial Day and Family History.

Tuesday morning we were able to explore and hike. It was pretty cool.

Then we headed out to have more fun.

At one point in the trip the jet ski got stuck in the sand and it got a bunch of rocks in the engine. (It worked only briefly after that, because it still had rocks in it when we got it home.

We also helped a stranded boat and spent quite a bit of time looking for a waste clean out.  After much frustration we realized it was a false alarm.

We were able to play a bit more and find another cove.

Tuesday night was a bit windy and so a few more people slept in the cabin.  It was cozy, but we made it work.  Those that slept on the upper deck throughout the trip got some marvelous star gazing!

This is a view from the upper deck.

We even got the inflatable Kayak out one evening.  It was quite peaceful to row and explore in!

Wednesday evening were able to sing happy birthday to all those with end of May/June birthdays.  Thanks to Cat for the great idea!

Thursday morning sleepy heads.

A few last boat rides

Happy cousin time

Then we headed back to Bullfrog Marina to refuel and deboard.

It was fun to have a different reunion experience.  I am grateful to all who helped, especially Matt who had the idea and brought all the boating elements together.  I am grateful for all who could come. We missed those who couldn't make it!  All in all it was a memorable trip!

We drove home on June 2nd and 3rd. The views were pretty.  A huge thanks to Ivan for letting us stay in his St George townhome!
