September 2020

September offered more of the usual activities, school, gymnastics, family time, limited play dates etc.  The girls were able to begin attending their studio in person again with masks and limited numbers.  They also started some small group ballet classes with a woman in our stake.  Also, outdoor activities were able to begin for church and youth activities.  Here are some fun pictures from the month.

This is at a birthday party for our neighbor friend, Ronnie. His parents had outdoor water games, and a few science experiments.  They are the kindest neighbors and have really helped to connect our neighborhood community.

Matt took the kids on a tour of his plant.  This is what it looks like before the harvest starts.  Imagine it full to the ceiling with nuts!

Matt was able to take the kids boating again.  This time Allison and Landon were able to join us.

Matt hung lights in our back yard which gives it a magical look.  I look forward to the day when I can host larger groups here.

We were excited to see our eggplant producing fruit.  Eggplant in our garden is a first for us.

The kids were able to do a photo scavenger hunt for a church youth activity.  Here are a few fun shots they got.

Little kitty, Pearl is getting more comfortable with us and the kids adore her.

For Christian's birthday we had a special breakfast, played games at the park, swam in the pool and went to dinner as a family.

This is Jackson Weatherbee.  He and Christian have become great friends over the pandemic.  His sister, Ava has been a wonderful friend for Sheri as well.  They are one of the families that we regularly interact with.  We feel very blessed to have them as our friends!

We love this sweet boy!  He is growing into a big kid and has unique opinions and preferences.  He learns quickly and is always looking for the next adventure or challenge.  We love his hugs and cute smile!  We look forward to his baptism next month!  Happy September!

August 2020

August was a beautiful month.  Here is what we have been up to.

Matt has been working on boat repairs.  We have been able to go out and enjoy the nearby reservoir.

We have had time to enjoy the beauties of summer and free time.

Eve was able to get her driver's permit since the DMV is now open.  Now she just needs lots of practice hours.

The 2020-2021 school year started.  All the kids have been distance learning.  They have had to get used to how to work with the teachers online and work together within our space.  Some silver linings are that they don't have to wake up as early and can stay in the comfort of their own home.

We were able to take a Saturday drive up to explore the camping in the nearby mountain areas.  The kids built a little shelter to play in.

During the rest of the month Matt and I started regularly working on some yard and home decorating projects.  It was nice to have extra time together.  Here are some palm trees that Matt picked out for our back yard.

During the kids spare time they often choreograph dances, walk on their hands, or do other tricks around the house.

Here is Christian during a school break.

One final highlight for the month of August is that Matt trapped a ferral cat and her kitten at his work.  We had the momma spayed and then released her, but decided to adopt the little black kitten.  It took us quite a long time to agree on a name.  Finally we went with Matt's choice, "Pearl".  The kids adore her and take good care of her.  She is a bit scared still, but is getting used to us.

Well, that about sums up our month.  We feel grateful and happy even with the pandemic and the restrictions that come with it.
